Covid-19 Update
ECA has been carefully monitoring the news and updates in relation to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The safety and best interest of our students has always been our priority.

From January 10, 2022, until end of pandemic emergency (march 31, 2022), here are the rules in Italy, and more particularly in Veneto :

1. Access to museums and all cultural and exhibition spaces is limited to Covid Passport holders (Green Pass Rafforzato) delivered:
a) After vaccination against SRAS-Cov-2, full cycle or booster
b) After healing from Covid-19, with certificate of healing delivered following the criteria of ministry of health
c) After healing from Covid-19 after first vaccination, or all cycle, or booster.

2. All participants have to wear mask over mouth and nose, inside and, in Venice, also outside. In case of inside events, FFP2 masks are mandatory.

3. For the classes in European Cultural Academy, you can show a "Basic" Covid Passport, obtained by vaccination, healing, or PCR test.

4. In restaurants and bars of the historical center, you will have to have the "Rafforzato" Covid Passport, obtained by healing or vaccination.
    What do my course fees include?
    All course fees include the following:

    • Classes and tuition
    • Study files / materials
    • Tickets to museums and exhibtions that are part of the schedule
    • European Cultural Centre catalogue
    • Welcome and graduation events (welcoming coffee and a boat ride)
    • Goodie bag with a map of Venice, notebook and a pen
    • Personalised graduation certificate
    Will I receive a graduation certificate?
    Yes, students will be awarded an European Cultural Academy Certificate in their chosen course upon satisfactory completion of the course. This will be presented in a graduation ceremony on the final evening of the course. N.B. ECA is a non-credit, non-degree professional program. University students will only get credits if their university has a partnership with ECA.
    Should I take any materials with me for the course?
    All the materials are provided on-site, if not stated different on the course page. You will receive all the necessary materials for the course.
    How do you keep in touch with students during the course?
    We create a WhatsApp group for all the participants. During the course we share pictures, schedule updates, useful links via the group.
    How should I pay for the course?
    You can pay via our website or by asking us an invoice. For the payment we do not accept bank checks, only bank transfers, credit cards and PayPal.

    Arriving and Departing
    Accommodation is not included in the tuition fee, however we are happy to recommend accommodation options here:
    Note: Our strong recommendation would be to stay near in the Cannaregio area - this is where morning classes take place.
    When should I arrive?
    We recommend arriving one day before the course starts. We always start the course with a welcoming coffee.
      How do I get from the airport to the centre of Venice?
      There are different ways to reach Venice.
      Shuttle bus
      We recommend taking a Shuttle bus to Piazzale Roma. The bus stop is right in front of the Arrival hall. The ticket costs 8 euros. You can buy the ticket from the conductor or at the ticket machine at the bus stop. Journey time to Piazzale Roma is only 20 minutes.
      Water Transport
      The water bus service is provided by the company Alilaguna. On exiting from the Arrivals hall, look for the covered walkway on the left and follow the walkway for 7 minutes until you reach the dock. The water bus stops in Venice at San Marco, Rialto, Fondamenta Nuove and Le Guglie. Journey time: F. Nove (38 minutes), Lido (58 minutes), San Marco (1 hour and 12 minutes), Rialto (57 minutes), Guglie (42 minutes).
      Water Taxi
      Taxi Service is provided by Cooperativa Artigiana Radiotaxi. Information & reservations: tel. 041 59 64 (24hr service).

      Meals are not included in the course fee.

      General information
      I need to see a doctor, where can I find one?

      The local emergency number is 118 and 112. For medical emergencies that don't require an ambulance, visit the Emergency room at Ospedale SS. Giovanne e Paolo.
      Transport in Venice
      • Vaporetto – It is the fastest way to move around Venice. 7 days ticket costs 60 euros with unlimited travels.
      • Bus, People Mover and Tram – They are made to get to the historical Venice from the new neighbourhoods on the mainland.
      • Ferry Boat – To travel with your bike, car or motorbike across the Lagoon.
      • Venice Tourist Travel Card / Tourist pass – you can buy one for a period of 12-hours up to 7-days with a maximum price of 60 euros for one week; another option is the Rolling Venice Pack for people aged between 6 and 29: with discounts for many businesses, 3 days travel card and one day of wifi.

      Schengen Visa
      If you need to apply for a visa, to attend a course at ECA, we will support you with an official invitation letter. In order to receive the official invitation letter, you will need to register for one of our courses, with the registration fee of 350 Euros. You will need to apply for the Schengen tourist visa independently. Please contact your local consulate or visa agency to inquire about required documents and appointments. We recommend to apply early for our courses, to ensure sufficient time to process your visa.
      Please note, If your visa does not get granted, we will withhold 100 Euros administration fee. We can only issues the official invitation letter, after we have received the registration fee.
      What are the lesson times, and what happens outside of lessons?
      The lessons usually start at 10 am and last for about 2 hours with a 5 minute pause in between. Afternoon sessions usually start at 2pm and last for about 3 hours. On the first day of the course you will receive a goodie bag with the schedule and our recommendations on what to do, and where to go in Venice outside the class time.
      What clothes should I bring?
      Summer is very hot and humid in Venice. Please bear this in mind when choosing your wardrobe. Do not forget sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat!

      Autumn can be rainy and windy - bring a hat, gloves and a good raincoat.
      Will I have the opportunity to visit other places in Italy during my course?

      If you are staying for more than one week, we recommend that you visit Lido, Verona or Florence during the weekend.
      I have a question. How fast can I expect it to be answered?
      We usually answer within two working days. Messages that require a longer processing time will be answered with an acknowledgement of receipt and indication when a detailed answer can be expected.
